Magic Realm is a fantasy board game from Avalon Hill, a company which was purchased by Hasbro Interactive some years back. The game involves a pseudo-random setup scheme which nicely creates the atmosphere of a role-playing game, without the necessity of a game master.
It is now impossible (as far as I know) to order the game, though you can still find a few for sale on ebay, and I'm sure other places.
- This new version is written in Java, so will work on all Java 1.4 and Java 5.0 compliant OS (PC with Java installed, OS-X on Mac, etc.) The jar is 'double-clickable', assuming you have Java installed correctly. RealmSpeak (Java) - Robin Warren - Available Now! Magic Realm Expansion.
- Ea games for mac From high fantasy to competitive sports – you can tap into the excitement of EA's hottest Mac games! Unleash your imagination in The Sims 4, rise to power and fight epic battles in Dragon Age II, build a living world where every choice matters in SimCity, and more.
- The users guide contains information about how this variant is setup, and played in RealmSpeak, so I suggest you read that first. For your first game, I suggest choosing the Questing the Realm variant on the options page, along with Sudden Death set to 15 VPs. Of course, this version of RealmSpeak also supports the Book of Quests variant.
The original rules to the game were a bit confusing, and it wasn't until the release of the 2nd edition rules that the game mechanics made any sense. The rules are organized into four 'encounters' which allow new players to learn the game in stages.
More recently, several Magic Realm fans reformatted the 2nd edition rules into an unofficial 3rd edition manual (available here), which clarifies much about the game.
If you are not an owner of the Magic Realm boardgame, RealmSpeak is not for you. There are many assumptions made in the interface that a new player likely will not understand. RealmSpeak is intended as a tool to allow Magic Realm players to get together online and enjoy a game, when playing face-to-face is not an option! If you want to get a copy of the boardgame, be sure to check out eBay, as there are often several copies there for sale. I recommend that you do!

How to Make Video Tutorials
The following info was extracted from a thread at BBG
Here is a bare bones description of how they are made. There may be some built in software on Macs that would make this easier.
The recording is not part of the realmspeak app itself. You can use 2 free apps to record the audio and video. I am pretty sure that both of these work on Macs but again I have not tried. Saint seiya elysion torrent. Camstudio for the video. Audacity for the audio.
I had instructions made up but every PC seems a little different and I have not used a Mac so you will need to just play around with them a little bit to get used to them. Basically you want to set up Camstudio so that it records your full screen. Turn off the sound recording in Camstudio. It does not work well and causes the video to be choppy. Audacity it a more straight foward you really do not need to change any of the options. You just need to play around with both apps, get used to how to record, save, and export as avi and mp3.
Once you are familiar with both the the apps then you can record. The tricky part of the process is creating a mark to have the audio and video sync. Easiest thing I have found is to open realm speak. Start camstudio -> minimize camstudio. Start Audacity -> While audacity is in the foreground count down three..two..one.sync. At the same time you say sync minimize audacity. In editing this will give the visual and audio mark to cut so the tracks will be in sync.

Patrick Van Beek came up with a great system for making these videos where he recorded one week, then saved his game, then saved the audio and video files. This method has worked out well for me and it keeps the size of the videos down.
If you send me those files I will take care of the editing. GM me your email address and I will send you the instructions to transfer the files. The process is pretty frustrating at first but after you get the first one done it becomes a lot easier. Please feel free to GM or Email me any questions or troubles you have.
